Course objectives:
- expanding knowledge about the significance of translation support software in the field of translation
- training the use of popular CAT tools such as SDL Trados, MemoQ, and others.
- practising translation memory (TM) utilization
- building and maintaining terminology databases
- creating and managing glossaries
- familiarising with techniques for quality control in translation using translation support software

Course content:
1. Introduction to SDL Trados Studio, introduction to the user interface and key features.
2. Creating a new translation project in SDL Trados Studio.
3. Creating and managing translation memories in SDL Trados Studio.
4. Translation exercises using SDL Trados Studio. Working with segments, translating, and confirming translations.
5. Overview of terminology management in SDL Trados Studio.
6. Creating and maintaining termbases.
7. Using the Quality Assurance (QA) features in SDL Trados Studio.
8. Exploring shortcut keys and time-saving techniques.
9. Setting up QA checks and correcting errors.
10. Working with complex file formats and document types.
11. Personalizing the SDL Trados Studio environment. Tailoring the software to individual preferences.
12. Common issues and their solutions in SDL Trados Studio. Troubleshooting file compatibility and formatting problems.
13. Overview of the evaluation requirements. Guidance on evaluation expectations and deliverables

Forms of evaluation of learning outcomes:
1. Active participation - 45% of the final grade (outcome 1,2,3)
2. A practical skills test - 55% of the final grade (outcome 1,2,3)
pass at 60% of the final grade
