Course objectives
- understanding authentic texts while reading and listening,
- developing exam task-solving techniques,
- developing the general command of English language at C1 level.

Course content:
Listening comprehension part: intensive training in listening to understand the meaning of a range of spoken material at C1 level, including lectures, radio broadcasts, speeches and talks, monologues, conversations held by two or three people. Training in a range of testing exam techniques, for example: listening for general in-formation, listening for specific information, matching, gap-filling, paraphrasing, note-taking.
Reading comprehension part: intensive training in understanding different forms of written texts at C1 level such as: descriptions, analyses, reports, critical opinions. Training in a range of testing exam techniques, for example: matching, discriminating, selecting, grasping general or detailed information.

Assessment criteria
Forms of evaluation of learning outcomes
1. Active participation during classes and preparation - 20% of the final grade (outcome 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8)
2. Listening and reading tests (mid and end of semester) - 80% of the final grade (outcome 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8)
To get a credit students need to pass all tests.
Tests marks are granted according to the following framework:
grade 2,0 (fail): 0–54%
grade 3,0 (average): 55–69%
grade 3,5 (plus average): 70–79%
grade 4,0 (good): 80–89%
grade 4,5 (plus good): 90–95%
grade 5,0 (very good): 96–100%
