Course objectives:
The course aims at broadening students' knowledge of English grammar. Students are given a chance to practise advanced English skills, especially with respect to grammar and style at B2/C1 level of proficiency.

1. passive voice
2. reported speech - statements, questions and orders
3. relative clauses: defining and non-defining relative clauses and other clauses
4. unreal time

short texts analysis, various forms of exercises, in-class discussions, ICT tools/e-learning option if needed

Students know and understand:
1. correct grammatical uses of passive voice, reported speech, relative clauses, and unreal time structures of English language at B2+/C1 level (k_W03/P6S_WG)
2. main basic methods of analysis and interpretation of accurate grammatical structures at B2+/C1 level, typical for public communication (k_W04/P6S)
Skills
Students can:
3. use English grammatical structures of passive voice, reported speech, relative clauses, and unreal time at the B2+/C1 level, related to public communication (k_U05/P6S_U)
4. recognize and analyse the grammatical structures of passive voice, reported speech, relative clauses, and unreal time in texts (k_U02/P6S_UW)
5. take up individual and group activities aimed at developing accuracy in language use (k_U08/P6S_UO)
Social competence
Students can:
6. critically evaluate and solve linguistic problems regarding the accurate use of language and style in English (k_K02/P6S_KK)
Assessment criteria
Forms of evaluation of learning outcomes
1. Active participation - 20% of the final grade (outcome 1,2,3,4,5,6)
2. Two language tests - each 40% of the final grade (outcome 1,2,3,4)
To get a credit students need to pass all tests.
