Course objective:
The aim of the course is to deepen students' language competence in English in practice, with particular emphasis on reading in the field of tourism service. The course focuses on expanding the vocabulary related to the topic and developing the ability to read with understanding of specialist texts through working with authentic materials.

Course content of Part 1:
The topics covered during the classes concern the analysis of descriptions of the hotel offer and travel agencies, promotional materials, business correspondence and effective customer service.

2. specialist English used in the hotel industry, travel agencies and tourist information centres, including advanced vocabulary, grammar, structures and style in English at C1 (k_W02/P6S_WG)
3. genre, pragmatic and stylistic rules of spoken and written genres of expression in English, typical for servicing tourist traffic (k_W12/P6S_WK)
Skills
The student can
4. read texts in English with understanding and discuss topics related to the ongoing service of tourist traffic, using formal sources (k_U07/P6S_UK);
5. use the English language at the C1 level with particular attention to specialist vocabulary (k_U08/P6S_UK);

6. critically assess one's own language competences and specialist knowledge and continuously improve one's own skills, including language skills, in the course of carrying out professional activities (k_K03/P6S_KK);

Assessment criteria
Forms of evaluation of learning outcomes:
1. Active participation in classes - 50% of the final grade (outcome 1,2,3,4,5,6,7)
2. The end of semester lexical test - 50% of the final grade (outcome 2,3,4)
pass at 60% of the final grade
