Course objectives:
- transfer of knowledge in the field of sociology of tourism
- developing the ability to analyze and understand social dependencies in tourism
- developing sensitivity to individual, social and cultural differences in forms of tourism and relations resulting from tourist contacts.

- Reflection on the concepts of: tourism, tourist, travel, sociology of travel/tourism, tourism in research, a brief history of travel
- Tourism as a form of intercultural contacts
- Mass tourism/mass tourist
- Tourist = modern man. MacCannell's semiotic-dramatic analysis of the phenomenon of mass tourism
- Tourism as a visual phenomenon - photography
- The phenomenon of sex tourism
- thanatourism
- Travels in the media discourse

Knowledge
The student knows and understands:
1. selected terminology and theoretical concepts in the field of sociology in tourism (k_W04/P6S_WG)
2. methods of diagnosing the needs of recipients of promotional and advertising activities in tourism and assessing the quality of services, taking into account sociological aspects (k_W09/P6S_WK)
3. the history of human mobility in space, the specificity of mass tourism, as well as various forms and purposes of practicing tourism (from the point of view of sociological concepts) (k_W11/P6S_WK)
Skills
The student is able to:
4. make a critical analysis of texts in the field of sociology of travel and tourism as well as reflectively describe the reality of contemporary tourist mobility (k_U05/P6S_UW)
5. define mutual relations between tourist mobility and intercultural contacts (k_U01/P6S_UW)
Social competence
The student is ready to:
6. critically analyze their knowledge and see the need to deepen it in the field of social determinants of tourism (k_K03/P6S_KK)
7. accept individual and social differences in the choice of forms of tourism implementation, as well as intercultural differences in countries receiving tourists (k_K04/P6S_KO)
Assessment criteria
Forms of evaluation of learning outcomes:
1. Active participation in the workshops - 45% of the final grade (outcome 1,2,3,4,5,6,7)
2. Presentation - 55% of the final grade (outcome 1,2,3,4,5,6,7)
Pass at 60% of the final grade.
