Course content
BLOCK I (4 hours)
1. Introduction. The specificity of the Opole region
2. A survey on the degree of knowledge of the topic by students
3. History of the nearest "area" - the Museum of the University of Opole
4. Visiting the museum with a guide
BLOCK II (4 hours)
1. History of Opole - exercises in groups with maps
2. The times of princes and townspeople - a short description of life in Opole
3. Artifacts from the past - a visit to the Museum of Opole Silesia
4. Visiting the exhibition "Opole: city - city"
BLOK III (4 hours)
1. Silesia - what is it? – exercises with maps
2. Selection of the topics of works concerning the OPOLLAND
3. Do you recognize these places - a sentimental trip around 19th-century Opole. Visiting the Upper Castle
4. Visiting the exhibition in the tenement house at ul. St. Wojciech
BLOCK IV (4 hours)
1. The difficult 20th century: Poles, Jews, Germans, Silesians, "repatriates"
2. Prominent inhabitants of Opole - who remembers them and how
3. Biographies prepared by students - presentation.
4. The film "You can live here" . Review
BLOCK V(4 hours)
1. The Opole region from the Silesian Uprisings to World War II. Different looks.
2. Meeting at the Museum in Łambinowice (Opole Branch)
3. Visiting the exhibition,
4. Discussion
BLOCK VI (4 hours)
1. Post-war Opole.
2. The capital of Polish song
3. Museum of Polish Song - sightseeing
4. The Piast Tower - sightseeing
BLOCK VII (6 hours)
Opole and the Opole region - the most important places: monuments, museums, castles and palaces, urban layouts. Field test or multimedia presentations of students (to be agreed).

Assessment criteria
Forms of evaluation of learning outcomes:
1. Active participation in the workshops - 50% of the final grade (outcome 1,2,3,4,5,6)
- field exercises; work in groups
- review of the film "You Can Live Here" (discussion)
- critical assessment of the work of guides in Opole museums - analysis of their strengths and weaknesses. Conclusions.
2. Biography (individual work; presentation in class) - 25% of the final grade (outcome 1,2,3,4,5,6)
3. Multimedia presentation (or in the field) of a selected topic (group work) - 25% of the final grade (outcome 1,2,3,4,5,6)
Pass at 60% of the final grade.
