Internship objectives
Internship should enable students to practice their communication skills in Polish and English in speech and in writing in their professional work, while observing ethical principles. Such practice should require students to be able to solve professional problems, collect, process and transmit (written and verbal) information, as well as participate in teamwork. The acquired skills should enable graduates to work in enterprises where English is desirable or necessary in everyday performance of duties, with particular emphasis on institutions from the tourist industry.

Student’s duties
Before starting the Internship, the student is obliged to:
• appear at the appointed place and time for an information and organizational meeting organized by the internship coordinator at the UO (if there is a need to organize such a meeting);
• downloading an internship referral from the UO Teaching and Student Affairs Office;
• complete the Practice Referral at the facility/institution and deliver the completed Referral to BDiSS UO before the start of the Internship;
• completing, signing and submitting to BDiSS UO Student's Statement of the University of Opole after reading the Regulations for the organization of internships - ZR 15/2021 and the direction instruction regarding the organization of mandatory student internships.
• collect a set of documents issued by BDiSS UO on the basis of a properly completed Referral before the start of the practice and deliver it immediately to the facility/institution.
During the Internship, the student is obliged to:
• appear on the first day of the practice at the appointed time and place where the professional practice will take place;
• be punctual at the workplace on each remaining day of the internship, at the time set by the internship supervisor at the facility/institution;
• not leaving the designated workstation before the end of 6 clock hours on each day - unless the employer decides to organize the working week differently (which should be 30 clock hours in total);
• diligently perform the tasks entrusted to him, resulting from the nature of the work and the internship program - in compliance with the regulations on work discipline and all safety requirements (including health and safety at work) in force at a given position;
• strictly comply with the instructions of the management of the company where the internship takes place and all other persons responsible for the organization of work during the internship;
• keeping own documentation related to the professional practice, throughout its duration, which consists of the Practice Course Sheet with a detailed enumeration of all duties performed in the workplace (including date and time of performance and type of duties entrusted);
It is allowed to achieve learning outcomes assigned to internships in a given field of study, level and profile of study using distance learning methods and techniques. Decisions in this matter are made by the Dean of the Faculty.
After completing the Internship, the student is obliged to:
• collecting the Evaluation Form of the internship from the facility/institution where the internship was carried out and submitting it together with the internship course card to the internship coordinator at the UO in order to complete the semester. The deadline for submitting documents coincides with the date of the examination session in a given semester. In justified cases, it is possible to consider submitting documents in a re-sit session.
• discussing the details of the internship with the internship coordinator.

Assessment criteria
Credit conditions
Internship is credited on the basis of achieved learning outcomes confirmed by a positive opinion of the internship supervisor at the facility/ institution/ company, issued in the document Evaluation Form along with the Schedule of Weekly Duties, supplemented with a detailed enumeration of all duties performed in the workplace (e.g. and time of performance and type of entrusted duties). It is allowed to achieve learning outcomes assigned to internships in a given field of study, level and profile of study using distance learning methods and techniques. Decisions in this matter are made by the Dean of the Faculty.
Internship 1 is credited by the Internship coordinator at UO by the end of the 1st semester of the studies (course credit with a grade).
Pursuant to the Internship Regulations, a student CANNOT complete a professional internship on the basis of current professional work, internship or volunteering
Practical placement
Travel companies/hotels/travel agencies where internships can be carried out should give students opportunities to use and develop skills related to the field of study. These may be establishments/institutions/companies operating in the tourist services sector, which require a good command of Polish and English in speech and writing.
It is recommended that the internship in the 1 semester should be related to the hotel services market.
The employee of the hotel/facility/institution/company appointed to take care of the trainee should have appropriate qualifications and professional experience
