Course objectives
The aim of the course is to familiarize the student with information and communication technology tools used in research and work organization.

Course content
Operating systems - operation of the MS Windows operating system, data storage and archiving, sharing resources, viruses and anti-virus programs, software installation and uninstallation, file compression.
Word processors - working with documents, entering special symbols, formatting characters and paragraphs, formatting styles, creating tables, graphic objects, printouts, footnotes, working with large documents (tables of contents, indexes, bibliography).
Spreadsheets - basics of working with a spreadsheet, entering mathematical formulas, functions, generating and modifying charts, transferring information between the spreadsheet and the editor, sorting and filtering data.
Multimedia presentations - principles of creating business and training presentations, using slide templates and modifying them, formatting text, lists, tables, creating charts and organizational charts, graphic and multimedia elements of presentations.
Computer networks - services in IT and communication networks, using browsers, searching for information, saving information from the network, electronic communication. Network security and privacy, sender authentication (certificates), cloud data storage.

Knowledge
The student knows and understands:
1. at the advanced level the position and importance of the English language in the IT sphere, with particular emphasis on tourist services (k_W01/P6S_WG)
2. advanced concepts and terminology regarding the use of computer hardware and software (k_W04/ P6S_WG)
3. ethical conditions for using computer networks in professional activities (k_W05/P6S_WK)
4. legal issues regarding copyright and the consequences of unauthorized use of data and materials posted on the Internet (k_W06/P6S_WK).
Skills
The student is able to:
5. use the operating system and use software in research and professional work; manage files, folders, applications (install and uninstall); use word processors to prepare text documents, spreadsheets to prepare charts and reports, and graphic programs to create presentations (k_U04/P6S_UW),
6. correctly use computer networks to obtain information (k_U05/P6S_UW).
Social competence
The student is ready to:
7. continuously improve of their IT skills during professional activities (k_K03/P6S_KK)
Assessment criteria
Forms of evaluation of learning outcomes:
1. Activie participation in classes - 20% of the final grade (effect 1,2,3,4,5,6,7)
2. Partial grades for completing tasks: 80% of the final grade (effect 2,3,4,5,6)
passing at 60% of the final grade
