Full qualification at the sixth level of the Polish Qualification Framework

The graduate of the Polish Philology programme knows:
- at an advanced level, selected facts, objects and phenomena of culture and literary and linguistic methods and theories explaining complex dependencies between them, forming the basic general knowledge in the field of Polish literary and linguistic studies, forming its theoretical basis, and selected issues of the detailed knowledge of Polish literary studies and linguistic;
- the place and significance of Polish literary studies and linguistics among humanities and social sciences, their nature and their methodological difference and the directions of their development;
- theories, methodology and general and detailed terminology of literary studies and linguistics;
- methods of analysis and interpretation of literary texts and language phenomena within selected traditions, theories and research schools in literary studies and linguistics (with the possibility of associating them with methods specific to cultural studies, art studies, communication science and social sciences);
- fundamental dilemmas of modern culture and civilisation in terms of their research and application for solving social problems;
- facts of Polish geography, history, politics and art;
- rules of the protection of intellectual property and copyright law, and forms of development of individual entrepreneurship;
- principles of the operation of cultural systems and institutions relevant to the scope of the professional activities appropriate for literary studies and linguistics (inter alia, educational, cultural, and media activities);
- elements of academic discourse related to the studied discipline;
- contents related to the elective module (knowledge listed under a separate description of learning outcomes of elective module).

The graduate of the Polish Philology programme can:
- use his/her knowledge of literary studies and linguistics, formulate and solve complex and unusual problems concerning phenomena of language, literature, and contemporary culture. and the activity of cultural institutions, and perform tasks in conditions not fully predictable thanks to: proper selection of sources and information derived from them, assessment, critical analysis and synthesis of information, selection and application of appropriate methods and tools, including advanced information and communication technologies (ICTs);
- formulate and analyse research problems, choose methods and tools for solving them, using knowledge of literary studies and linguistics (with the possibility of taking into account the knowledge of related sciences);
- recognize literary texts and language phenomena, and carry out their critical analysis and interpretation with the use of standard methods for literary studies and linguistics, allowing for an assessment of their relevance and impact in the historical and cultural process;
- communicate with the use of specialist terminology specific for the description of literary texts and language phenomena;
- take part in a debate - present and evaluate different opinions and positions in terms of culture and discuss them;
- use a foreign language at the level of at least B2 of the Common European Framework for Languages;
- plan and organize individual and team work;
- independently plan and carry out his/her own learning throughout life;
- use the knowledge and experience related to the elective module (skills listed under a separate description of learning outcomes of elective module).

Graduate of the Polish Philology programme is ready to:
- critically assess his/her knowledge of literary studies and linguistics, and recognition of the importance of knowledge of literature, language, and culture in solving cognitive and practical problems;
- responsibly exercise professional roles, including: - comply with the rules of professional ethics and require it from others, and care about the tradition and achievements of the profession;
- participate in cultural life and use its various forms;
- function competently, responsibly and ethically in the area defined by the elective module (social competences listed under a separate description of learning outcomes of elective module).
