Celem kształcenia na kierunku Pielęgniarstwo jest wyposażenie absolwentów w szeroką wiedzę merytoryczną, umiejętności oraz kompetencje społeczne niezbędne do wykonywania zawodu pielęgniarki/pielęgniarza.

Czas trwania studiów stacjonarnych drugiego stopnia

  • 4 semestry,
  • plan studiów obejmuje 1306 godzin, w tym 200 godzin praktyk zawodowych.
  • Możliwość kontynuacji kształcenia: studia trzeciego stopnia (doktoranckie), studia podyplomowe, kursy specjalistyczne, kwalifikacyjne oraz szkolenia specjalizacyjne zgodnie z zasadami i formami kształcenia podyplomowego pielęgniarek.

Uczelnia w pełni odpowiada za organizację i nadzór nad przebiegiem kształcenia teoretycznego i praktycznego. W ramach studiów studenci mają również możliwość odbywania bezpłatnych praktyk poza granicami kraju, dzięki czemu poznają specyfikę pracy w zawodzie pielęgniarki/pielęgniarza w Europie. Studia drugiego stopnia

Kształcenie na studiach drugiego stopnia mogą podejmować osoby, które ukończyły studia pierwszego stopnia na kierunku pielęgniarstwo i legitymują się tytułem zawodowym licencjata pielęgniarstwa.

Dyplom magistra pielęgniarstwa uzyskuje absolwent studiów drugiego stopnia na kierunku pielęgniarstwo, który:

1. W zakresie wiedzy posiada:

  •     wiedzę specjalistyczną z zakresu pielęgniarstwa i innych nauk medycznych,
  •     znajomość regulacji prawnych, norm etycznych i deontologii odnoszących się do wykonywania zawodu pielęgniarki.


2. W zakresie umiejętności potrafi:

  •     rozwiązywać problemy zawodowe,
  •     korzystać z aktualnej wiedzy dla zapewnienia bezpieczeństwa i wysokiego poziomu opieki pielęgniarskiej,
  •     określać standardy profesjonalnej opieki w każdym wieku i stanie zdrowia pacjenta oraz wdrażać je do praktyki zawodowej,
  •     prowadzić badania naukowe w zakresie swojej specjalności,
  •     organizować i nadzorować opiekę pielęgniarską,
  •     organizować pracę podwładnych i własną zgodnie z obowiązującymi przepisami prawa, zabezpieczając interesy pacjentów, pracowników i organizacji,
  •     opracowywać założenia polityki kadrowej oraz planu zatrudnienia personelu odpowiednio do strategii i zapotrzebowania pacjentów na opiekę pielęgniarską,
  •     opracowywać i wdrażać do praktyki zawodowej narzędzia monitorowania i oceny jakości opieki pielęgniarskiej,
  •     opracowywać programy edukacji zdrowotnej i realizować je w odniesieniu do wybranego, środowiska społecznego, z uwzględnieniem potrzeb społeczności lokalnych,
  •     inicjować i wspierać działania społeczności lokalnej na rzecz zdrowia.

3. W zakresie kompetencji społecznych:

  •     skutecznie i z empatią porozumiewa się z pacjentem,
  •     posiada świadomość konieczności permanentnego, ustawicznego kształcenia się.


Po ukończeniu studiów absolwent jest przygotowany do podjęcia studiów trzeciego stopnia doktoranckich.

Kwalifikacje, które nabywa absolwent z tytułem magistra pielęgniarstwa są automatycznie i bezwarunkowo uznawane w krajach Unii Europejskiej, co powoduje, iż absolwent może korzystać ze wspólnotowego rynku pracy i swobodnego przepływu osób zgodnie z obowiązującymi w tym przedmiocie przepisami.

  •     świadczenie opieki pielęgniarskiej w placówkach ochrony zdrowia,
  •     samo zatrudnienie,
  •     kierowanie i zarządzanie zespołami pielęgniarek lub położnych,
  •     zatrudnienie w podmiocie leczniczym na stanowiskach administracyjnych,
  •     nauczanie zawodu pielęgniarki lub położnej oraz wykonywanie pracy na rzecz doskonalenia zawodowego pielęgniarek lub położnych,
  •     prowadzenie prac naukowo-badawczych w zakresie pielęgniarstwa,
  •     zatrudnienie w organach administracji publicznej, których zakres obejmuje nadzór nad ochroną zdrowia,
  •     pełnienie służby na stanowiskach służbowych w inspektoracie Wojskowej Służby Zdrowia i jednostkach Sił Zbrojnych Rzeczpospolitej Polskiej,
  •     sprawowanie funkcji z wyboru w organach samorządu pielęgniarek i położnych.

Professional status:

The graduate has specialist knowledge in nursing and other medical sciences: The graduate knows: principles and methods of monitoring patient's health condition and realization of promotional and prophylactic actions in the population of healthy persons; standards of realization of advanced and independent nursing services; mechanisms of action of medicinal products and principles of their prescribing; therapeutic guidelines and standards of nursing care in chronic diseases; principles and methods of education of healthy and sick persons with chronic diseases; the role of a nurse in coordinated health care; problems of management of nursing teams and health care organizations; determinants of health service quality development; legal regulations concerning practising the profession of a nurse and providing health services; methodology of scientific research and the rules of conducting it; requirements for preparing scientific publications; directions of the development of nursing in Europe and in the world; principles of providing health services in long-term care; cultural and religious aspects of providing nursing care to patients of different nationalities and beliefs; methodology of professional education at the pre-graduate and post-graduate level. He/she can: monitor the health condition of children and adults, including the elderly, and implement educational, promotional and prophylactic activities; solve professional problems, especially those related to decision-making in difficult situations, resulting from the character of professional tasks and the conditions of their implementation; select, order and interpret diagnostic tests within the scope of their authority; develop a therapeutic education programme for patients with chronic diseases, conduct the education and evaluate this programme; independently nurse patients with chronic wounds and fistula; coordinate health care of patients within the health care system; prescribe drugs, substances for special nutritional purposes as well as medical products, including issuing prescriptions or orders for them; provide independent health care advice within the scope of professional competence; develop nursing care standards and implement them in nursing practice; apply relevant legal regulations in professional activity; define patients' needs for nursing care and develop guidelines for nursing personnel policy; communicate with patients, taking into account cultural and religious aspects; organise and supervise the work of nursing and supporting staff; conduct scientific research and disseminate its results; use results of scientific research and world nursing achievements for the development of nursing practice; provide care for mechanically ventilated patient in long-term in-patient and home care conditions; apply methods of teaching and evaluation in realization of tasks within vocational education. In terms of social competences, the graduate is able to: critically evaluate their own actions and actions of their colleagues while respecting world-view and cultural differences; formulate opinions on various aspects of professional activity and seek expert advice in the event of difficulties with solving a problem on their own; demonstrate care for the prestige associated with the nursing profession and professional solidarity; solve complex ethical problems associated with the nursing profession and indicate priorities in the implementation of specific tasks; take responsibility for the health services provided; demonstrate a professional approach to marketing strategies of the pharmaceutical industry and advertising of its products. In accordance with the learning outcomes set out in the educational standards for second-cycle studies in the field of nursing in accordance with the Regulation of the Minister of Health of 28 February 2017 on the type and scope of preventive, diagnostic, therapeutic and rehabilitation services provided by a nurse or midwife independently without a doctor's order, and in accordance with the Act of 15 July 2011 on the nursing and midwifery professions of 15 July 2011 (Journal of Laws of 2022, item 2702 as amended) within the scope of medical orders in the process of diagnostics, treatment and rehabilitation, the graduate is authorized to: perform specified diagnostic tests and issue referrals for specified diagnostic tests; prescribe medicines containing specified active substances (excluding medicines containing very potent substances, intoxicants and psychotropic substances) and substances for special nutritional purposes, including issuing prescriptions for them; order specified medical products, including issuing orders or prescriptions for them after a personal physical examination of a patient. 5.3. The graduate completed coursework preparing them to communicate and analyse medical literature in English at level B2+ of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages in accordance with the educational standards set out in the Regulation of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of 26 July 2019 on educational standards preparing to practise the professions of doctor, dentist, pharmacist, nurse, midwife, laboratory diagnostician, physiotherapist and paramedic (Journal of Laws 2021, item 755 as amended).

Teaching standards

As of 01 October 2019, teaching outcomes became learning outcomes - Act of 3 July 2018 - Legislation introducing the Act - Law on higher education and science (Journal of Laws of 2023, item 742 as amended). The learning outcomes in terms of knowledge, skills and social competences leading to a full qualification at level seven of the Polish Qualification Framework are in line with the Regulation of the Minister of Science and Higher Education on the standards of education preparing for the profession of doctor, dentist, pharmacist, nurse, midwife, laboratory diagnostician, physiotherapist and paramedic of 26 July 2019 (Journal of Laws of 2021, item 755) and defined by the Resolution No. 98/2020-2024 of the Senate of the University of Opole of 27 May 2021 on the amendment of the study curriculum for the second-cycle Nursing programme at the UO. The student is obliged to achieve all the assumed learning outcomes in terms of knowledge, skills and social competences included in the study curriculum, which is confirmed by the appropriate course/module credit (pass/fail, pass with a grade, exam). In order to obtain credit for a semester, the student needs to obtain passes in all courses/modules included in the programme of studies for a given semester in accordance with the passing requirements and assessment criteria applicable to a given course/module. In the course of the last year of studies the student must write a diploma thesis, which after being positively assessed by the supervisor and the reviewer allows him/her to take the diploma exam. Passing the diploma examination is a prerequisite for graduation. The diploma examination consists of a theoretical part, and its course is in compliance with the current Rules of Study and the Diploma Procedure defined in the Regulation No. 81/2021 of the Rector of the University of Opole of May 17, 2021 on rules for preparing and archiving diploma theses at the University of Opole. In the course of the study, the graduate completed a total of 1331 didactic hours, including 1131 hours of theoretical training and 200 hours of practical training (clinical training within the meaning of Directive 2005/36/EC) in:
– public and non-public health care institutions of in-patient and out-patient treatment (including primary health care);
– universities and post-secondary schools of medical profile.
