The learning outcomes along with the study program for the second-cycle History major were approved by Resolution 109/2020-2024 of the Senate of the University of Opole of May 27, 2021.
Knowledge learning outcomes. During the studies, the following was acquired: knowledge about the subject and methodological specificity of historical sciences to an in-depth, extended and structured degree, enabling the conduct of historical research, as well as its application in professional activity. In-depth knowledge of Polish and general history.. An in-depth knowledge of the terminology of historical sciences and terminology of the humanities and social sciences useful in historical research. Ability to criticize various historical sources. Has in-depth knowledge of methods, tools and problems typical of the historian's workshop and their connection with methods used in other humanities and social sciences. He has in-depth knowledge of the history of historiography, especially the most important Polish and world historical schools, as well as the variability of the diversity of methodological positions, theories and scientific schools dealing in the past and present with the study of the history of man and his civilization. Knowledge and ability to use advanced methods of analysis and interpretation of various cultural products, appropriate for selected traditions and schools of research within history. Knowledge and ability to use various sources of historical knowledge and their usefulness in historical research. Knowledge of the existence of different points of view in historical sciences, determined by national and cultural background. Has in-depth knowledge of how to collect, develop, store and share various historical sources and cultural products. Knowledge of the volatility and development of views in historical research and public debate. He has knowledge in the field of copyright protection. Has in-depth knowledge of the complex nature of language and historical variability of meanings Knowledge of the place of history among other sciences, the purpose of historical research, the place, meaning and connection of historical sciences with other disciplines of science, especially the humanities and social sciences Knowledge of the activities and offers of various institutions or associations disseminating and popularizing knowledge and historical culture. Skills in the methods and ways of translating sources and texts in the field of historical research from foreign languages (at least one). Has knowledge and practical skills in the ways and methods of popularizing history, as well as in the field of history didactics (compared to general didactics), supported by experience in its practical use.
Learning outcomes in terms of skills: Can independently search, analyse, select, evaluate and use information and data using various modern techniques of obtaining, classifying and analyzing information. Possesses in-depth research skills, including the analysis of the works of other authors, the synthesis of various ideas and views, the selection of research methods and techniques and tools, the independent formation of research topics, annotating and editing texts in accordance with the canons accepted in the historical sciences, taking into account other humanities and social sciences . Can independently acquire knowledge and expand research skills in the field of historical research and popularization of historical knowledge. Has the ability to integrate historical knowledge with knowledge from other humanities and social sciences and to apply it in unusual professional situations. Can carry out in-depth criticism of historical sources and various types of cultural products useful in historical research. Can systematize and develop information on historical and related sciences using bibliographies, archival aids, databases, including multimedia and Internet resources, as well as methods appropriate for other sciences (e.g. statistics). Can consciously, in speech and writing, use professional terminology appropriate for historical and related sciences in research work as well as in activities related to the popularization and teaching of history. Can analyse, interpret and present the collected data information using various methods and techniques of presenting research results. He has the ability to substantively argue, using his own views and those of other authors, formulate conclusions and create synthetic summaries. Has an in-depth ability to prepare various written scientific and popular science works in Polish and possibly a foreign language using appropriate techniques of historical narrative. Has language skills in accordance with the requirements set out for level B2 Plus of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Can use professional terminology of historical sciences in at least one foreign modern language. Has in-depth skills and competences necessary for the comprehensive implementation of tasks related to teaching and popularizing history. Demonstrates the ability to learn and improve their own research and teaching skills and in the field of popularizing history with the use of modern means and methods of obtaining, organizing and processing information and materials. Able to work in a group, assuming both a managerial role and a team member in research, teaching, didactic and educational work and related to the popularization of history. Use various methods of teaching and disseminating knowledge in the field of historical and related sciences.
Learning outcomes in terms of social competences: Understands the necessity and feels the need for continuous training and development necessary in the work of a historian as a researcher, teacher and popularizer of historical knowledge. Systematically and actively participates in cultural and social life in its various forms, with particular emphasis on teaching and popularizing history. He is aware of the importance of historical science for the maintenance and development of social ties at various levels. Respects differences in historiographic views in different periods and contexts. It respects the fact that historical research and debate is a process in a state of constant change and development. He is ready to actively participate in historical debates and popularize historical knowledge. Appreciates and respects the tradition and cultural heritage of humanity and is aware of the need to actively protect the cultural heritage of Europe, Poland and its region. He is ready to skilfully and actively promote historical knowledge in various environments. He is guided in his approach to the historical message by objectivity and respect for theories and views different from his own. It also has civil courage in opposing the instrumentalization of historical knowledge by national, social and political groups.
