Learning outcomes
In the course of study Philosophical Counseling with Mentoring of the second degree, full-time, practical profile, learning outcomes achieved through the implementation of the study modules provided for in the curriculum, which correspond to the groups of subjects.
Core subjects (in the study schedule 37 ECTS), elective subjects (in the study schedule 17 ECTS), elective subjects (in the study schedule 56 ECTS) and other compulsory subjects (in the study schedule 10 ECTS). The total amount of credits is 120 ECTS.
In full-time studies, subjects are implemented in 60, 45 and 30 hours. Students are obliged to: Library training - 2 hours at a time, Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) training - 4 hours at a time - both in the first semester of study, and Intellectual Property Protection training - 2 hours at a time in the second semester of study (Resolution No. 125/2020-2024 of the Senate of the University of Opole dated June 29, 2021). Students have the opportunity to implement foreign language classes at the B2+ level in the second semester.
The study schedule is dominated by active classes - there are 290 hours of exercises (27.62%), 165 hours of conversation classes (15.71%), and 285 hours of workshops (27.14%). The share of lectures is at the level of: 205 hrs (19.52%). The schedule includes University-wide variable courses (KZO - elective) totaling 45 hours, the form of which depends on the offerings proposed in the course list. Graduate seminars account for 60 hrs (5.71%). In addition, the schedule includes 480 hours of professional practice. The dimension of classes conducted in the form of traditional input has been reduced to the necessary minimum. This is conducive to the effective achievement of the assumed learning outcomes in terms of skills and social competence.
A graduate of philosophical counseling with mentoring is able to conduct coaching, philosophical counseling and mentoring sessions, as well as supervision. He also has the skills to creatively develop the tools and methods of various helping disciplines. He is a person who has a logical culture, psychological and philosophical knowledge that allows him to creatively develop techniques for working with others. He freely uses Socratic dialogue as a tool of the so-called “good conversation”. He is characterized by flexibility in the choice of methods and approach to each individual case.
The graduate knows the methods of conducting philosophical counseling and mentoring sessions, as well as the types of coaching, mentoring and philosophical therapy. He knows the principles of Socratic dialogue (the so-called good conversation). Has knowledge of contemporary trends in psychotherapy. Is familiar with the basics of developmental psychology. He knows the history of the development of the most important philosophical concepts, the basics of formal logic and the theory of reasoning. He is particularly familiar with the classical models of the art of living. He has an in-depth knowledge of various ethical concepts. He knows the ethical code of the mentor and counselor and understands the necessity of supervision in the helping professions.
The graduate is primarily able to conduct professional mentoring and philosophical counseling sessions. He is able to use Socratic dialogue in different contexts, adapting work methods to the current situation. Proficiently creates own tools for coaching and mentoring work. Can conduct supervised coaching and mentoring sessions as well as self-coaching and self-mentoring using various techniques. Clearly formulates claims, especially philosophical claims in the form of a thesis, defended in the form of a dissertation - is able to write philosophical essays. integration activities with different groups, choosing methods of work for a specific situation. He has the ability of ethical analysis, aptly applying the provisions of the code of ethics of a coach, mentor and therapist to the analysis of specific practical situations;
The graduate is ready to critically approach his own professional and interpersonal competence and assertively express his position, using the conceptual tools of philosophy. Understands and applies ethical principles in professional practice and private life. Demonstrates readiness to seek challenging, creative and courageous solutions to social problems. Promotes attitudes of respect for every person, mutual kindness.
