Studying English Philology

If you want to be well prepared to face the challenges of a highly competitive job market, study English Philology with Business English speciality which follows the practical profile of the graduate studies. University of Opole in cooperation with PricewaterhouseCoopers have created an innovative programme that allows the graduates to link their academic growth with practical application of knowledge and skills. Students learn how to function in a multinational company by developing their skills in analysis, planning, engineering, economics, or IT. They learn to use English in speech and writing at C2 level of CEFR for languages. The programme comprises several business subjects, such as Company introductory programme or IT in business (full information on the study programme is available here.

MA studies finish with an MA defence and an MA degree. The MA thesis can be written in the business organisation under the supervision of an academic scholar and a business specialist from a given company.

What makes a difference at the University of Opole?

A professional team of academic teachers supports and guides the graduates in their intellectual growth. The students are educated in modern lecture rooms in the newly renovated historical building of Collegium Maius equipped with modern audiovisual and computer technology. Our library and the reading room offer access to an extensive collection of Anglo-Saxon literature (more than 37 thousand volumes devoted to various aspects of culture and language of English speaking countries and 100 titles of journals and magazines devoted to teaching).

The practical profile offers a unique Internship programme in a company. Some of the classes and the internship are held in business organizations.

Student affairs, options for development, exchange and scholarship

Our students can enroll in a student exchange programme Erasmus offered by Opole University, which allows for studying abroad for a semester or two, developing foreign language communication skills, learning about culture of a foreign country and gaining professional knowledge via a foreign language.

Students can take part in a programme of competence development which offers visits at BPO organizations (PricewaterhouseCoopers, Capgemini, IBM, ATOS, and Stefanini), certified trainings in accounting and HR, workshops and graduate internships in companies with which the Faculty of Philology has cooperating agreements.


What are future career prospects after the studies?

Our students finish their studies with strong communication skills in English in writing and speaking, ability to search for information in various sources, to analyse and synthesize information, and to work effectively both independently and in teams. They are well prepared for a career in any kind of business environment, especially in companies offering Business Support Solutions. With strong English skills (C2), basics of accounting, HR and IT, they are ready to work in leading multinational companies.

PLN 5000 per year

Citizens of Poland and EU/EFTA as well as the Pole's Card holders study free of charge
