Professional status:

The graduate of the Finance and Accounting programme possesses knowledge of finance and accounting, the functioning of financial institutions and banks as well as the ability to analyse basic economic phenomena and the economic and financial situation of economic entities. He/she understands the causes and effects of economic phenomena at the macro- and micro-economic level under the conditions of the open market economy. He/she is also able to find and analyse source materials in the fields of finance and accounting. The graduate has a command of a foreign language at Level B2+ of the Council of Europe's Common European Framework of Reference for Languages and is able to use a specialist language in the field of finance and accounting. The graduate is prepared to undertake work in financial and non-financial institutions. He/she is prepared to work as an accountant, a tax advisor, an auditor, and a management accountant. The graduate can take up second-cycle studies.

Learning outcomes

Graduate of the Finance and Accounting knows and understands:

- knows at an advanced level, the theory of finance and accounting as knowledge of the analysis of the economic process, understands its practical application in the professional activity
- knows at an advanced level, concepts, facts, objects and phenomena, methods and techniques used in finance and accounting, understands their sources, knows the practical application of this knowledge in related disciplines and in the professional activity.
- knows theories and general methodology of research in scientific disciplines relevant to economics and finance
- knows the nature, place and significance of social sciences in the system of sciences and their relation to other sciences
- possesses basic knowledge of the role and place of people in financial structures at individual, group and organisational systems levels, and their rights
- knows value management of entities and the impact of fundamental dilemmas of modern civilisation on the conditions of activity of economic entities
- knows economic, legal and ethical mechanisms and determinants of the functioning of enterprises, financial institutions, financial markets, as well as the areas of their activity and relations between them
- knows basics of legal regulations in force in Poland and abroad, including the principles of industrial property protection and copyright; can explain formal, legal, economic and ethical conditions of functioning of chosen types of organisations, and the importance of specific norms and standards in the professionall activity
- knows the essence of individual entrepreneurship, understands and explains the process of enterprise value creation on the basis of knowledge of finance and accounting
- knows methods and tools for obtaining data and information used in finance and accounting, possesses knowledge of basic statistical methods and IT tools used in economic and financial analyses

Graduate can:

- can apply his/her economic and financial knowledge - formulate and solve complex and non-typical problems concerning economic phenomena and processes, and perform tasks under conditions that are not fully predictable by: properly selecting sources and information from them, and evaluating, critically analysing and synthesising this information,
- can properly apply basic methods and tools from the scope of finance and accounting and related sciences to the practical analysis of financial activities of an organisation and the analysis of financial processes and phenomena occurring in its environment
- can identify and interpret basic economic phenomena and processes, using the knowledge of scientific disciplines relevant to economics and finance
- can analyse and forecast economic processes and phenomena using standard methods and tools of scientific disciplines relevant to the Economics and Finance programme
- can properly use normative systems to solve tasks in economics and finance
- can properly apply legal regulations, normative acts and binding professional rules and standards in the field of finance and accounting in solving specific problems
- can communicate with the use of specialist terminology describing financial and accounting categories
- can analyse, debate, explain and assess basic social phenomena in the context of financial determinants
- can use a foreign language at least at Level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages
- can plan and organize individual and team work
- can independently plan and carry out their own lifelong learning

Graduate is ready to:

- can critically assess their economic knowledge and recognize the importance of knowledge in solving cognitive practical problems in finance and accounting
- can undertake and initiate simple research activities independently and organise his/her own work effectively and evaluate its progress, recognise the importance of knowledge in solving problems, seek expert opinions in case of difficulties
- is ready to initiate actions in the public interest, and to actively participate in the development and implementation of various projects, taking into account their financial, economic, legal and social aspects
- is ready to respect ethical principles, is aware of the importance of professional actions in line with traditions, moral principles and professional ethics and respect for diversity of views and cultures, observes these principles and requires others to do the same
