Student:
• ought to be able to know what different stylistic choices documentary offers and be able to recognise instances of their uses in documentary film
• Become familiar with the social and cultural context around the films discussed, such as the feminist movement in the 70’s Italy, gender relationships enacted under Iranian marital law, the evolution of women’s rights in the USA and more

Student:
• be able to do basic film analysis and critique, drawing comparisons to the other films discussed during the class

• is competent to express opinions on sensitive topics in a way that fosters discussion and without fear of judgement
