Advanced Translation 1 1.2.D2.EP.13
This course consists of a series of translation classes which aim to provide students with a specialist training in cross-linguistic and cross-cultural communication. To this end, students are required to translate (at home) various text types from English into Polish, and the translations are then compared in class and discussed in detail. Special attention is paid to the problem of cross-linguistic textual equivalence (at word level and above word level), grammatic equivalence, and pragmatic equivalence. The students learn how to render a range of text types in order to achieve equivalence, which significantly broadens their practical experience in translation. This course offers a more extensive study than any translation course at the BA level in order to improve both the students’ knowledge of Translation Studies and practical translation skills.

Kryteria oceniania
Participation in classes (20%), 10 translation assignments to be done at home (40%), and an end-of-semester translation test in class (40%).
