Course content
• Reading, analysing and discussing academic texts pertaining to SLA
• Using the Internet and traditional data-base queries in order to select, analyse and synthesize various ideas and viewpointsincluded in academic textspertaining to the chosen specialty
• Writing formal academic summaries and/oracademic paper abstracts (applying academic writing guidelinesand terminology as required
by the chosen specialty)
• Giving academic presentations and providing a constructive feedback (focus on the content, delivery and academic discourse features
characteristic for the chosen specialty)
• Conducting academic discussions coordinated by appointed students (formulating questions, critical opinions and supportive arguments)

3. read and create advanced English-language texts and prepare advanced presentations in the field of English philology, using formal sources(k_U04/P7S_UK)
4. use English at C2 level, with particular emphasis on academic discourse, taking part in specialist communication and conducting a formalized debate (k_U05/P7S_UK)
5. manage the work of the group to develop language skills (k_U07/P7S_UO)

Form of evaluation of learning outcomes

in class discussions based on reading materials (outcome 1,2,4,5) - 30%
two in-class essays and one take-home essay based on reading materials (outcome 1,2,3) - 30%
pass at 60%
