Course objectives:
The main aim of the course is to deepend the linguistic knowledge of the students in repect to syntaxt, including elements of historical grammar

1. Constituents of a sentence
2. Basic functions of grammatical constituents
3. Basic categories of sentence constituents
4. The structure of the Verb Phrase
5. Adverbials - functions and categories
6. The internal structure of the Verb Phrase - the Verb Group
7. The internal structure of Noun Phrases
8. Sentences within sentences - the structure of a complex sentence
9. Non-finite clauses and wh-clauses
10. Universal Grammars

Forms of evaluation of learning outcomes:
1. Active participation in classes - 20% of the final grade (outcome 1,2,3,4,5)
2. Online tasks (if assigned) - 20% of the final grade (outcome 1,2,3,4,5)
3. The final task - project/essay/in-class presentatio - 60% of the final grade (outcome 2,3,4)
