Course objectives
- understanding authentic texts while reading and listening,
- developing exam task-solving techniques,
- developing the general command of English language at C1 level.

Course content:
Listening comprehension part: Listening comprehension: understanding of informative monologues, conversation held by two or three people, short abrupt subjects presenting one matter
Reading comprehension part: different forms of texts on the basis from which a student has to find out or match particular elements of information.

Methods of instruction/ forms of classroom activity:
individual work, pair and group work, activities training reading and listening skills.

6. understand a range of spoken and written material in English at C1 level (k_U05/P6S_UK)
Social competences
Student is ready to:
7. solve problems arising from comprehension and assessment of types of reading and listening texts in order to apply appropriate techniques to solve testing tasks (k_K02/P6S_KK)
8. understand and accept differences between their native language and English language in terms of the concept of pronunciation and ideas expressed in a written form (k_K03/P6S_KO)
Kryteria oceniania
Forms of evaluation of learning outcomes
1. Active participation during classes and preparation - 10% of the final grade (outcome 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8)
2. Listening and reading tests (mid and end of semester) - 90% of the final grade (outcome 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8)
Mid-Term test/tests 60%
End of semester test 30%
To get a credit students need to pass all tests.
Tests marks are granted according to the following framework:
grade 2,0 (fail): 0–54%
grade 3,0 (average): 55–69%
grade 3,5 (plus average): 70–79%
grade 4,0 (good): 80–89%
grade 4,5 (plus good): 90–95%
grade 5,0 (very good): 96–100%
