Course objectives:
The main goal of the lkecture is acquainting students with the terminology, research methods, and interpretive strategies commonly applied in cultural studies.

1. Culture: origin & basic terms.
2. Main themes in approaching culture.
3. Popular culture: definitions.
5. Music & music business.
6. Culture industries – beyond the Frankfurt School.
7. Studying youth subcultures.
8. Advertising and commercial culture.
9. Major programming trends in TV/streaming platforms.
10. Convergence cultures.

2. main methods of analysis and interpretation of culture products, in the studied disciplines, including theories and research schools within English philology (k_W04/P6S_WG)
Kryteria oceniania
Forms of evaluation of learning outcomes
Written end-of-term exam - 100% of the final grade (outcomes 1,2,)
Grading criteria:
60% - 70% - 3.0 (barely adequate knowledge; numerous errors)
71% - 75% - 3.5 (adequate knowledge; some errors)
76% - 85% - 4.0 (above average knowledge; few errors)
86% - 90% - 4.5 (superior knowledge; few errors)
91% - 100% - 5.0 (superior knowledge; no errors)
