- analysis of the phonetic and phonological system of the contemporary Chinese language
- learning the correct articulation of sounds.
- learning correct pronunciation, including intonation.
- learning to spell and stress

the consonant sounds of Standard Chinese
the vowel sounds of Standard Chinese
the pitch contour of a syllable of Standard Chinese
the stress, rhythm, intonation of Standard Chinese

1. Active participation in classes - 45% of the final grade (outcome 1,2,3)
2. Reading a outloud with correct pronunciation - 55% of the final grade (outcome 2)
