Course objectives:
The main goal of the course is to familiarise the students with the most basic terminology used in film studies. It provides a foundation for interpreting and understanding the art of film. It centres on the technology, language and interpretation of film.

Knowledge
1. The student recognizes and defines the functionality of the use of means of expression in the process of film analysis and interpretation (m-W-2/P6S_WK)
2. The student has a basic knowledge of film terminology (m-W-1/P6S_WG)
Skills
3. The student is able to use the knowledge of film techniques to determine the genre, style and temporal affiliation of the analyzed films (m-U-1/P6S_UO)
4. The student is able to apply the knowledge of the aesthetic conventions represented by the chosen creativity or tendency in the process of creating forms of disseminating knowledge (m-U-2/P6S_UW)
Social competence
5. The student is ready to update their knowledge and skills on their own (m-K-1/P6S_KR)
6. The student is aware of the importance of film and other audiovisual media in the modern world, can determine their cognitive, educational, entertainment and values (m-K-2/P6S_KK)
Kryteria oceniania
Forms of evaluation of learning outcomes:
1. Active class participation - 45% of the final grade (outcome 1,2,3,4,5,6)
2. Terminology test - 55% of the final grade (1,2,3,4)
pass at 60% of the final grade
