Course objectives
- elaborating on main research methods within the seminar
- elaborating on theoretical models and research paradigms
- elaborating on the stylistic and formal guidelines for BA project writing
- giving the students specialist knowledge to write their own BA diploma paper

Course content
1. Identifying research objects in the context of current developments in the discipline of linguistics)
2. Framing research objectives and formulating theses, hypotheses and research questions within the scope of the discipline
3. Doing a literature review in relations to a chosen aspect of theory/methodology/analysis
4. Selecting methods, procedures and analytic tools to match research objectives
5. Reporting on and discussing results in quantitative and qualitative approaches
6. Concluding, identifying implications for further research and limitations of the study

1. position and importance of the English language and philological studies in various fields (business, culture, economy, information technology, law, media, politics, science and sociology) (k_W01/P6S_WG)
2. specific terminology and techniques used in reading, critical analysis, and writing in English in order to perform and describe own research project (k_W04/P6S_WG)
3. principles of copyright and its protection in relation to various cultural products, in particular in the field of English philology (k_W06/P6S_WK)
Skills
Students can
4. be innovative in performing own research project through proper selection, evaluation and analysis of the obtained information (k_U02/P6S_UW)
5. conduct basic research, search, and analysis, select and use information using different sources, methods and computer literacy (k_U04/P6S_UW)
6. formulate research problems and use appropriate tools and methods to analyse and discuss them with other specialists in the field of English philology (k_U07/P6S_UK)
7. plan and organize individual; continue to learn independently when performing own research (k_U10/P6S_UO)

Kryteria oceniania
Forms of evaluation of learning outcomes:
1. Active participation in classes and consultations - 45% of the final grade (outcome 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11)
2. Evaluation of the style, form and content of BA theses - 55% of the final grade (outcome 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10)
pass at 60% of the final grade
