Course objectives
The course enables students to acquire skills in searching, ordering and using information from various electronic sources, as well as effective management and presentation of the collected data.

Course content:
1. Computer hardware - the main components and peripherals
2. Opole University IT services (Eduroam, Usosweb, Webmail and e-learning platform)
3. Text editors and processors - text formatting and processing, combining text with graphic elements, using tables, formatting extensive documents (e.g. BA thesis).
4. Presentations - preparing and giving presentations on:
4.1 Preparing multi-media presentations
4.2 Basic information on information technology, information safety and copyright protection, the role of Internet networks and information society
4.3 Local electronic library catalogues
4.4 Databases and catalogues of the National Library in Warsaw
4.5 Global Library Catalogues, e.g. The Congress Library catalogue, WorldCat
4.6 The Gutenberg Project and other world literature resources
4.7 Digital Libraries and scientific databases
4.8 Preparing a strategy of information search
4.9 ESL software evaluation

Forms of evaluation of learning outcomes:
1. Active participation in classes - 20% of the final grade (outcome 1,2,3)
2. Project preparation/group work - 20% of the final grade (outcomes: 1,2,3,4,5)
3. Project preparation/individual work - 60% of the final grade (outcomes: 1,2,3,4,5)
