Course objectives
The main purpose of the course is to improve their C1-level competence. Through practical analysis of exam-oriented tasks with reference to the structures and vocabulary of English, the course guides students towards their Practical English Exam. The course focuses on:
- developing students' command of vocabulary with special reference to the academic discourse,
- understanding authentic texts while reading and paraphrasing,
- improving students' knowledge of English grammar and structures used on the C1 level,
- developing exam task-solving techniques.

Course content
Grammatical: unreal time, reported speech, nouns, articles. quantifiers
Vocabulary: health, moods, fame and fortune, time off, media, work and business, environment, personal contacts, science and technology, phrasal verbs

Assessment criteria
Forms of evaluation of learning outcomes
1. Active participation - 20% of the final grade (outcomes 1,2,3,4,5,6)
2. Two tests in advanced grammar and vocabulary of English - total of 80% of the final grade (outcome 1,2,3,4)
