Course objectives:
- familiarising the students with lexical-grammatical and phonological rules of the Spanish language at the A1+
- familiarising the students with institutions and cultural processes in the countries of the Spanish language area
- developing Spanish language skills at the A1+

Course content:
1. Introducing oneself – giving personal information, describing one’s physical features, character.
2. The countries and nationalities.
3. In my house - describing one’s place.
4. In the city – giving directions, moving around the city.
5. Using the following grammatical forms: Presente de Indicativo, feminine gender and plural forms of nouns and adjectives, personal pronouns used as subjects, deictic pronouns and possessive pronouns one’s family. Spanish royal family.
6. Likings.
7. Daily activities. Lifestyle of Spain.
8. Describing the weather.
9. Talking about one’s plans for the nearest future.
10. Using the following grammatical forms: Gerundio (with such verbs as “estar” and “llevar”), Periphrastic “ir a + inf.”

Knowledge:
1. Student has the ordered knowledge of the Spanish language; knows the lexical-grammatical and phonological rules of the Spanish language at the A1+ level, and the rules of the selection of means for expressing specific types of information (m-W-1/P6S_WG)
2. Student has the basic knowledge of institutions and cultural processes in the countries of the Spanish language area and is acquainted with current cultural life (m-W-2/P6S_WK)
Skills
3. Student has the ability to search for, analyze, select and use information utilizing various sources and methods ( m-U-1/P6S_UW)
4. Student is able to use the Spanish language in writing and speaking at the level A1+ of the Common European Framework for Languages with relative fluency, accuracy and communication efficiency in a wide range of general, cultural and business topics (m-U-2/P6S_UK)

5. Student shapes their own views on the basis of the gained general and detailed knowledge (m-K-1/P6S_KK)
6. Student has awareness of the responsibility for the preservation of the cultural heritage, and tolerance for cultural diversity of other countries and nationalities (m-K-2/P6S_KO)
Assessment criteria
Forms of evaluation of learning outcomes:
1. Test - 50% of the final grade - (outcome 1,3,4)
2. Written assignment - 10% of the final grade - (outcome 1,2,3,4,5,6)
3. Speaking - 30% of the final grade - (outcome 1,2,3,4,5,6)
4. Active classroom participation - 10% of the final grade - (outcome 1,2,3,4,5)
Pass at 60% of the final grade
