Knowledge:
Students know and understand:
1.specific terminology and techniques used in academic writing, and critical analysis of texts in English in order to solve specific problems; ways to express specific types of information (k_W04/P6S_WG)
2. principles of copyright and its protection in relation to referencing various cultural products, in particular in the field of English philology (k_W06/P6S_WK)
Skills
Students can:
3. use different phrases, structures and stylistic rules in order to formulate and solve problems or complete formal tasks in academic writing (k_U01/P6S_UW)
4. recognize and write different types of academic texts and create their own, coherent and logical arguments, and draw conclusions (k_U03/P6S_UW)
5. create texts in English on topics related to business, culture, economics, computer science, law, media, politics, science and sociology, using formal sources (k_U05/P6S_UK)
6. take up individual and group activities aimed at developing language skills (k_U09/P6S_UO)
Assessment criteria
Forms of evaluation of learning outcomes:
1. Summaries - 30% of the final grade (outcome: 1,2,3,4,6,7)
2. Paraphrases - 30% of the final grade (outcome: 1,2,3,4,6,7)
3. Syntheses - 20% of the final grade (outcome 1,2,3,4,5,6,7)
4. Active participation in classes including group cooperation - 20% of the final grade (outcome 1,2,3,4,5,6,7)
