Course objectives:
The aim of the course is to: develop writing skills through doing individual and group exercises, analyzing English texts and sample essays, as well as producing well-organized, stylistically and grammatically correct texts. The topics covered during classes relate to recent news and events that receive media coverage at a given time.

4. Coherence and cohesion, using linking words and phrases.
5. Parallel structures in English writing.
6. Analyzing common mistakes in writing
7. Writing introductions with thesis statements

9. Organizing paragraphs

12. In-class writing (conclusions)
13. Working on the final draft (exercises)

Assessment criteria
Forms of evaluation of learning outcomes
1. Active participation in classes - 10% of the final grade (outcome 1,2,3)
2. Four short in-class writing assignments - 35% of the final grade (outcome 3,4,5)

2. Final in-class essay writing - 55% of the final grade (outcome 1,2,3,4,5)
