Exam objectives:
The aim of the Self-study 1 exam is to test whether the students' language proficiency satisfies the B2+Level requirements with reference to:
- understanding demanding texts which carry implicit meanings,
- expressing oneself spontaneously, with relative fluency and precision,
- flexible use of language for social purposes,
- clear production of detailed, well-structured, and relatively complex texts,
- controlled use of text organizational patterns.

Exam content
• READING part: matching, filling the information from the texts; testing technique: multiple choice, gap filling, matching test
• WRITING part: content, organization, unity, vocabulary, choice of language register, language correctness of written text; testing technique: essay on a given subject
• LISTENING part: matching, completing the information from the texts; testing technique: multiple choice, gap filling, matching test
• ENGLISH IN USE part: vocabulary, grammar, orthography, punctuation, word formation, unity of the text, language register; testing technique: multiple choice, gap filling, matching test, error identification
• SPEAKING part: grammatical correctness, stylistic unity and lexical variety in speech, interactive communication, pronunciation, testing technique consists of a pair conversation with limited participation on behalf of the examiner.

The student knows and understands:
1. advanced vocabulary, grammar, structures and stylistics in English at
B2+ level; specialist English language used in servicing tourist traffic (k_W02/P6S_WG)
SKILLS:
The student can:
2. use English at B2+ level, paying particular attention to specialized vocabulary, professional terms, technical terms, jargon, pronunciation, etc., especially while listening, writing, reading and speaking (k_U08/P6S_UK)
3. independently plan and implement one's own lifelong learning of English as a foreign language (k_U16/P6S_UU)
SOCIAL COMPETENCES:
The student is ready for:
4. critically assess one's own competences and knowledge and continuously improve one's language skills (k_K03/P6S_KK).
Assessment criteria
Forms of evaluation of learning outcomes:
100% - written and oral test (outcome 1,2,3,4)
Standardized exam including five parts (Writing, Listening Comprehension, Reading Comprehension, English in Use, Conversation) on C1 level according the CEFR for Languages criteria - 20% for each part of the exam.
Grading system:
grade 2,0 (failed): 0 – 49%
grade 3,0 (passable): 50 – 69% (reaching B2+ proficiency)
grade 3,5 (satisfactory): 70 – 79%
grade 4,0 (good): 80 – 89%
grade 4,5 (very good): 90 – 95%
grade 5,0 (excellent): 96 – 100%
