Lecture: Phytopharmacology - application of plants in medicine. Medicinal substances occurring in plants . What is the effect of plant preparations on the human body. Side effects of using herbs, side effects and contraindications for using plant medicines. Herbal products - tinctures, lotions, creams, ointments, masks.
Laboratory: Safety regulations in force in the laboratory, a laboratory equipment. Identification of medicinal plants. Introduction to preparation a herbarium of medicinal plants. Infusions, herbs and macerates from medicinal plants. Contamination of medicinal plants with heavy metals. Identification and some properties of chosen herbal substances.

Student:
has deep knowledge in phytopharmacology,
knows the basic and related knowledge of the properties of medicinal plant substances,
knows the basic information about the influence of selected plant medicines on the human body,
He knows the basic information about the use of plant active substances
can identify medicinal plants,
He is able to develop his own formula of a medicinal plant preparation.
understands the need to deepen his knowledge in phytopharmacology,
is responsible for safety when working with chemical reagents.
Assessment criteria
Lecture:
Semester work (multimedia presentation) or test - pass mark 80% of the final grade
Attendance at the lecture - 20% final grade
Lab:
Attendance at laboratory exercises - pass mark 40% of final grade
Activity in the class - 20% final grade
Practical exercise - pass mark 40% of final grade

Activity in class, Herbarium of herbs (10 specimens)
Preparation of a recipe of a herbal product
