TOLS for inclusive learning KZ-JO-H-01-07-000009
Participants will gain a preliminary understanding of:
- the foundational concepts of inclusion and diversity;
- digital citizenship education, using digital media to teach and learn in inclusive language classroom settings and the role of English in digital media;
- foundational concepts of culture and cultural dimensions; they will be aware of the impact of cultural background on their successful language learning; they will explore cultural aspects in language, including stereotypes, behaviours and worldviews;
- the impact gender inequality has on the success or lack of success of students in the foreign language learning context; they will learn about the concept of the hidden curriculum in the aspect of gender issues; they will also be able to recognize gender bias in the teaching materials, classroom interactions and language used in the classroom; they will develop skills necessary to promote gender equality in the language classroom;
- the foundational concept of Universal Design for Learning.

The students should be able to:
- define inclusion and provide examples;
- define diversity and provide examples;
- give examples of how digital media can be used to teach and learn in inclusive settings and reflect on these examples;
- examine cultural misunderstandings in the EFL classroom;
- be ready to modify classroom interactions, teaching materials and language to make them gender-inclusive;
- apply UDL principles to create a more inclusive classroom
