Remote online course (e-learning: Microsoft Teams/Moodle).
The aim of the course is to familiarize students with the concept of sustainable development, with special regard to environmental protection, as the key element of this concept. Students will get to know the most important contemporary environmental problems and solutions to these problems, by using alternative energy sources inter alia. In addition, students will have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the professional phrases appearing in English-language publications in the field of techniques and technologies of environmental protection and will develop the ability to use English-language online resources in collecting information on the state of the environment.

KNOWLEDGE
− knows and understands the concept of sustainable development and the importance of environmental protection in this concept K1

− knows the basic techniques to improve the quality of the environment and understands the purposefulness of their application in sustainable development K3

− is able to define the following expressions: sustainable development, conventional energy, renewable energy, alternative energy sources, greenhouse effect, global warming, PM10 dust, PM2.5 dust, smog, acid rain, ozone layer, tropospheric ozone S1
− is able to assess the impact of technologies using different energy sources on the environment S2
− is able to indicate solutions to the most important contemporary environmental problems S3
- is able to apply basic, generally available techniques to improve the quality of the environment, e.g. waste segregation technique at the source S4
− is able to use English-language electronic sources (browsers, selected literature databases) to collect materials for final essay S5

− demonstrates responsibility related to the deadline for preparing the final essay C1
− demonstrates the responsibility associated with the need to maintain contact with the lecturer and other course participants C2

Assessment criteria
− Form: lecture (on e-learning platforms: Microsoft Teams/ Moodle).
− Passing conditions: credit with mark. Preparation of a short essay in English or short Power Point presentation.
