Knowledge
Student:
• ought to have a sound knowledge of the structural inequalities and cultural differences and their consequences
• know the relationship of the individual and the social structures
Skills
Student:
• can use scientific knowledge to describe her position in society and in relation to the others (inc. other groups and cultures)
• understands how scientific knowledge can be disseminated in a popular manner, remaining academic relevance
Social competences
Student:
• can analyze her personal experiences using sociological theory and is able to present her standpoint from the sociological perspective
• understands the relationship between the theoretical knowledge and social practice
• is aware of her structural position in the society
Kryteria oceniania
• Evaluation of the in class activity
• Evaluation of the final paper
The final papers are structured in a way that students must apply the theoretical concepts of different dimensions of social and cultural diversity to their structural position in the societies (and in relation to different cultures). The basic criteria are: ability to discuss different dimensions of social inequalities and to discuss their position in society in these dimensions. The more sound the theoretical background and conceptual discussion, the more thorough and insightful the application of those theories to the author's own case – the higher the grade.
