Language skills: writing with elements of grammar 1 1.N3.EP.3
Course objectives
The main aim of the course is to develop writing skills through doing individual and group exercises, analyzing English texts and sample essays, as well as producing well-organized, stylistically and grammatically correct paragraphs. One of the aims is preparing students to pass C1 self-study - writing part. Exercises improve students' writing skills focusing on register, style and grammar.

Course content
Writing: training in the purpose/aim of writing short texts; training in writing a short paragraph that covers: purpose/aim/topic sentence, evidence provided, explanation/interpretation of evidence, information relevance, conclusion.
Elements of grammar: chosen stylistic aspects of academic English language: modifiers, parallelism, faulty comparison, omission; chosen aspects of grammar on demand.

Kryteria oceniania
Form of evaluation of learning outcomes:
1. Writing assignments - 55% of the final grade (outcome 1,2,3,4)
2. Active participation in-class - 45% of the final grade (outcome 1,2,3,5,6)
To get a credit students need to pass all writing assignments.
Tests marks are granted according to the following framework:
grade 2,0 (fail): 0–49%
grade 3,0 (average): 50–59%
grade 3,5 (plus average): 60–69%
grade 4,0 (good): 70–79%
grade 4,5 (plus good): 80–89%
grade 5,0 (very good): 90–100%
