Course objectives:
The course aims at familiarizing students with the basic concepts and terms related to literary studies. The lecture gives students knowledge of history of the development of European reflection on a literary work and basic problems of literary theory. The lecture frames literature as a product of culture and focuses on providing students with the knowledge of terminology and concepts important in analyzing literary works. r

Written end-of-semester exam
Grading criteria:
60% - 70% - 3.0 (barely adequate knowledge; numerous errors)
71% - 75% - 3.5 (adequate knowledge; some errors)
76% - 85% - 4.0 (above average knowledge; few errors)
86% - 90% - 4.5 (superior knowledge; few language errors)
91% - 100% - 5.0 (superior knowledge; no errors)
