Course objectives:
- analysis of the phonetic and phonological system of the contemporary Spanish language (vowels, consonants, diphthongs, triftongs, hiatus)
- learning the correct articulation of sounds.
- learning correct pronunciation, including intonation.
- learning to spell and stress, including the use of graphic accent, intonation patterns and dialectical forms.

Course content:
1. Getting to know the basic concepts of phonetics and phonology as well as getting to know the apparatus of human speech.
2. Classification of sounds (consonants, vowels, diphthongs).
3. Diphthongs, triphthongs and gaps.
4. Stressing in gaps, diphthongs and triphthongs.
5. Places of articulation of sounds.
6. Variants of pronouncing vowels and their phonetic transcription.
7. Variants of pronouncing consonants.
8. Assimilation of sounds.
9. Syllables.
10. Accent
11. Distinctive accent function.
12. Words with and without accents.
13. Intonation - typical patterns.

Forms of evaluation of learning outcomes
1. Active participation in classes - 40% of the final grade (outcome 1,2,3)
3. Reading a text outloud with correct rponunciation - 30% of the final grade (outcome 2)
4. Correctly delivering an oral answer - 30% of the final grade (outcome 2,3)
Pass at 60% of the final grade
