Course content
1.The main research orientations within the subject field: culturalism, postmodernism, cognitivism
2. Theoretical models and research paradigms: quantitative, qualitative, normative and critical
3. Methodologies and analytic categories: from hypothesis to design of the study: content analysis, narrative analysis, thematic analysis, semiotic analysis, discourse analysis, genre analysis, rhetorical analysis, ideological approaches, typological approaches.
4.Research procedures: data sampling, analytical tools, methods of presentation and discussion.
5.The scope and results of research: conclusions.
6.The issues to be explored, limitations, criticism.
7.Implications for further scholarship.

Forms of evaluation of learning outcomes
1. Active participation in classroom activities and discussions - 30% of the final grade (outcome 2,6)
2. Reporting on materials read out of class - 30% of the final grade (outcome 1,3,4,5)
3. Submitting a research proposal based on a careful analysis of subject area/object of research, appropriate theoretical framework, appropriate research question(s) and appropriate methodology matching the research question(s) - 40% of the final grade (outcome 1,4,5,7)
pass at 60% of the final grade
